屋漏偏逢連夜雨，“倒霉”用英語(yǔ)怎么說(shuō)？

1 go through a bad/difficult/rough/sticky patch

經(jīng)歷困難時(shí)期/倒霉時(shí)期

《摩登家庭》里有一句話(huà)：

I'm sorry. I went through a bad patch there, when I was trying to find the right balance with my Meds.

很抱歉，那是我的人生低谷，吃藥吃的有點(diǎn)多。

Meds：abbr. medicines醫藥

例：Did you take your Meds?

你吃藥了嗎？

2 Just my luck!

真倒霉！

我們都知道英語(yǔ)單詞luck所表達的意思是“運氣”。所以看到It was just my luck.很容易就會(huì )理解為“那是我的運氣”。

但實(shí)際上它正確的意思為“我一向的壞運氣，霉運”。

例：

They sold the last ticket five minutes before I got there - just my luck!

在我到那兒的5分鐘前他們賣(mài)掉了最后一張票——真倒霉！

3 Everything but the locusts

倒霉到家了，就差沒(méi)鬧蝗災了

Locust ['lkst]是蝗蟲(chóng)，所以這個(gè)短語(yǔ)的意思就是：除了沒(méi)鬧蝗災，什么都有了；可見(jiàn)還真不是什么好事兒啊。估計這個(gè)短語(yǔ)是辛勤勞動(dòng)的農民伯伯發(fā)明的。因為啊，他們辛辛苦苦的種莊稼，這一年到頭就怕鬧蝗災了。要是真是如此，那可是“pour water into a sieve（竹籃打水一場(chǎng)空?。?rdquo;。

例：

Oh, I've had everything but the locusts.

哎，今天真是倒霉到家了。

4 It's not my/his...day.

表示“今天真不吉利”。

如：

It's just not my day: the car wouldn't start; I was late for the meeting, and to crown it all I sprained my ankle.

我今天真不順當，先是車(chē)打不著(zhù)火，接著(zhù)會(huì )議遲到，更糟的是把腳崴了。

5 It never rains, but it pours.

照字面意思：不是微微細雨，而是大雨傾盆。

也就是說(shuō)：壞事接二連三的降臨 （The bad things come in succession.） 這與咱們所謂的“禍不單行”或“屋漏偏逢連夜雨，船破又逢對頭風(fēng)”意思相似。
